July 1 Canada Day Celebrate Canada Day Pictou style. A great parade of pipe bands from around the world is the highlight of the festivities. The streets are lined with thousands of dancing spectators that come to the small community to partake in the celebrations.

July 7-10 Pictou Lobster Carnival Celebrated every summer since 1934, this four day street parade showcases some of Atlantic Canada's best musical artists. Complete with boat races, waterfront activities and above all, lobster feasts! This festival offers entertainment for the entire family.

August 1 Natal Day Come celebrate Natal Day in Pictou. There are parades, yacht races, buskers and much more!

August 10 -14 Hector Festival Celebrate the arrival of the ship Hector and the history of the community. Listen to pipe bands, watch Highland dancing and tour the ship.

August 26-28 Bluegrass Festival Concerts featuring various artists sound through the Pictou Community during this festival.

September 16-18 New Scotland Days A true celebration of the sea as this event commemorates the launch of The Hector in 2000 in Pictou Harbour. This event includes a Kilted Golf Tournament and a Model Boat Show. Come experience life as it was in 1773 in Pictou County.

Beaches in Pictou Nova Scotia

Melmerby Beach Provincial Park - is a mile-long sand beach and one of Nova Scotia's premium beaches. The beach is open from mid-June until mid-October and is a supervised beach with a canteen, showers, a change house facilities and washrooms. Located along Exit 27A at Sutherland's River, on the Little Harbour Rd.

Caribou Beach - Come camp or swim and enjoy nature along this mile-long sand beach. The beach is open from mid-June until mid-October and offers 92 campground sites, picnic areas, a walking trail and it is an unsupervised beach. Located 11 km north of the junctions of Routes 6, 106, and 376 on Nova Scotia's Northumberland Shore. 4 km east of the Caribou / Wood Islands (PEI) ferry wharf.
